Regional Bargaining Report # 37
Thursday, August 18, 2011 9 PM
The IBEW New England and CWA District 1/IBEW Local 2213 Local Committees met with the company in two separate sessions today at the Rye Town Hilton in Rye, NY. The Union compelled the company to talk about the Union’s issues. We reminded the company that this bargaining was also about our issues and what is important for our members and their families. We are scheduled to meet with the Company tomorrow morning.
The System Council T-6 continued meeting with the Company on issues specific to the New England contract. Counter proposals have been made by both sides and are being evaluated. We are scheduled to meet again tomorrow evening.
The Company has sought out injunctions on picketing and mobilization in court. The locals of the T-6 council have spent many days in court with the Union’s attorney. We are waiting for a ruling by the court and when one is received, we will notify the membership of the outcome. The Company has also sought out an injunction on the Union’s activity at Verizon Wireless stores. The locals and the attorney will be fighting that battle as well. When we have an outcome on that case we will notify the membership.
As you can see, your hard work on the picket lines at all locations is having a massive affect. The Company is crying about lost revenue at the wireless stores and complaining of difficulty performing work on the landline side. Keep up the pressure, your actions are having an impact. Hang tough!!!!
We will not allow VERIZON
to destroy the Middle Class
Stay Strong – Stay United
Fraternally,
