Regional Bargaining Report # 39
Thursday, August 25, 2011
The System Council T-6 and CWA District 1,2 and 13 will reconvene bargaining on Monday August 29th at the Rye Town Hilton in Rye N.Y. The Return to Work Agreement that was put in to effect on Tuesday August 23rd allowed for a neutral 30 day period for both the Union and the Company. Your current contract and benefits are extended indefinitely. The Union or the Company can opt out of the agreement when the 30 days expires and either side gives a 7 day notification to terminate the agreement. The Company has stated that when bargaining reconvenes they will get serious and focus on the issues. The plan of the IBEW and CWA was to return our members to work when the Company was ready to bargain and not mandate. We return to the table on Monday and we shall see what the tone of bargaining will be.
The sacrifice and commitment that this membership has shown these last two weeks, has forced the Company to go back and re-evaluate their proposals. I am certain that there are still very serious issues on the table but they have committed to bargain these issues. Great job by everyone thus far, but our fight is far from over. If the Company has not gotten the message to take bargaining seriously then the members may be forced into serious action again. Continue mobilization efforts and remember to wear red on Thursdays. Stay strong and stay UNITED….Solidarity has gotten us to this point…Keep it up
OUR FIGHT for
The MIDDLE CLASS continues….
Mobilize! – Mobilize! – Mobilize!
Fraternally,
Dave Keating
